Detlef Behrens (born October 30, 1946 ) is a former German soccer player . The goalkeeper played 186 league games from 1967 to 1973 at Lüner SV in the then second -rate regional football league West . In the last season of the regional league second division, 1973/74, he guarded the goal in another 21 league games at Sportfreunde Siegen , before he played in the first year of the 2nd Bundesliga , 1974/75, for the clubs FC 08 Homburg and Schwarz- White Essen still played eight games in the 2nd Bundesliga.

career

The young goalkeeper Detlef Behrens, who came from SV 08 Dortmund to Lüner SV, made his debut with the Red-Whites from the Schwansbell Stadium on the start day of the 1967/68 round, August 13, 1967, in the Regionalliga West. The team of coach Werner Nagerski surprisingly got the first pair of points with a 2-1 away win at Rot-Weiss Essen and goalkeeper Behrens showed himself to be equal to the sporting demands of the new class. Together with the defensive top performers Erhard Ahmann , Manfred Rüsing , Dieter Zorc and Benno Düsenberg , the climber's goalkeeper successfully kept the dangerous RWE offensive around Willi Lippens , Günter Pröpper and Herbert Weinberg in check. The club from the northern Ruhr area finished the first year in the regional league in eighth place and Behrens had established himself with his performances in the substructure of the Bundesliga.

The goalkeeper experienced the most successful year in the Regionalliga West in the 1969/70 season . With coach Herbert Eiteljörge and the offensive talent Hans-Jürgen Sperlich , Lünen finished sixth in the final ranking with 38:30 points and 52:37 goals. Outstanding was the 3-1 away win on April 12, 1970 in front of 12,000 spectators against champions VfL Bochum, who had won a 1-1 draw in the home game. In the following three rounds Lünen could no longer maintain this quality and rose to the amateur camp after the 1972/73 season. The goalkeeper played his last league game for Lünen on May 13, 1973 under coach Sepp Högerl in a 3-2 home defeat against 1. FC Mülheim. Detlef Behrens played a total of 186 games in the Regionalliga West for Lüner SV from 1967 to 1973.

He accepted the offer of Sportfreunde Siegen for the last round of the old second-rate regional league, 1973/74, and switched to the Red-Whites in the Leimbach Stadium. However, the team of coach Herbert Schäfer could not intervene in the fight for places in the new 2nd Bundesliga. At the end of the round Siegen finished twelfth and Behrens had guarded the gate in 21 other regional league games. With a 2-1 victory on May 5, 1974 at Eintracht Gelsenkirchen, the chapter of the second-rate regional league ended, with which Behrens said goodbye to victories and striker Gerhard Scholtyschik contributed the decisive goal.

Behrens signed a new contract for the 2nd league with FC Homburg for the 1974/75 round and moved to Saarland to join the green and white team at the Waldstadion. But he only made two appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga in Homburg. Under coach Herbert Wenz , the man from Lünen was a member of the starting eleven on August 2, 1974, which lost the home game against Karlsruher SC 2: 3. Then in Homburg on Bratislav Đorđević and Manfred Kirsch in goal and for the newcomer from Siegen after the 0: 4 defeat on October 5, 1974 at SV Waldhof Mannheim no sporting perspective was available. He sounded out the market in the west and switched to Schwarz-Weiß Essen in the northern season of the 2nd division in the late 1974.

On December 14, 1974, he made his debut at SW Essen in the away game against VfL Osnabrück at the Bremer Brücke. The appearance for the new goalkeeper was not happy, the team from Essen's Uhlenkrugstadion lost with 0: 6 goals. Hans Wulf was number one at ETB SW Essen and Behrens only came to a total of six missions until the end of the round, alongside fellow players Klaus Albert , Hans Fritsche , Horst Gecks , Franz-Josef Laufer , Günter Leufgen , Holger Trimhold and Herbert Zimmer .

Under coach Hubert Schieth, Behrens also played the role of substitute keeper behind Hans Wulf in the 1975/76 and 1976/77 series. But Wulf completed all 38 league games and Behrens ended his higher-class playing career in the summer of 1977.
