The German Fire Brigade Day is the central gathering of all fire departments in Germany , which has been held every 10 years since 1970 and is organized by the German Fire Brigade Association .

It has its origins in a meeting of all fire departments on July 10, 1853 in the Gasthof zum Waldhorn in Plochingen . At that time it was decided to hold the first German Fire Brigade Day in Ulm in 1854. Since then, the focus has been on the exchange of knowledge in discussion groups and lectures on the current state of the art in all areas of fire fighting.

The German Fire Brigade Day is shaped by the community of German firefighters who come to this event from all parts of the country and at different levels. This tradition was particularly revived at the 26th German Fire Brigade Day in Friedrichshafen in 1990, when the fire brigades from the GDR took part for the first time . After a few decades, firefighters from Eastern Europe were also welcomed there and various contacts were made.

The German Fire Brigade Day has been held regularly since 2000 in conjunction with the world's leading trade fair Interschutz , which is held in particular for the areas of emergency services , fire and disaster control and security.
