history

The name comes from the Teutonic Knight Order , who previously owned lands here. In 1284 the order acquired extensive forest property here (Burckersdorffer Waldungen) , which was only sold to the imperial forest office in 1766. The forest on the Yellow Mountain is still called the German Forest today .

After the first meetings in 1903, the first allotment garden colony in Austria called "Heimgarten" was built in 1904 in Deutschwald .
