Dexter Drumlin is a 38 acres (15.4 hectares ) large nature reserve near the town of Lancaster in the state of Massachusetts of the United States and used by the organization The Trustees of Reservations managed.
Protected area
As they retreated, the last glaciers of the ending Ice Age formed the New England landscape , forming drumlins in many places , including the 311 ft (94.8 m ) high Dexter Drumlin. It was named after Nathaniel T. Dexter, who bequeathed the area to the Trustees in 1999.
Today's protected area consists of a single large open area. On the west side of the hill, a small tributary of the Nashua River flows through the area, and the administration grows the grass tall to provide adequate shelter for birds and other animals nesting on the ground. From the highest point of the elevation there is a good view of historic Lancaster and the agricultural surroundings. In winter, the hill is a popular destination, especially for sledding . A circular trail approximately 1 mi (1.6 km ) leads visitors through the reserve.
Dexter Drumlin is one of the chiastolite sites .
