Didier Norman Raymond Berthet (born June 11, 1962 in Boulogne-Billancourt , Hauts-de-Seine department , France ) is a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Saint-Dié .

Life

Didier Berthet, the son of a Catholic father and a Protestant mother, was initially baptized in the Reformed Church of France and converted to the Roman Catholic Church at the age of 21. After graduating from high school, he first studied at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and then entered the seminary . He was sent to study at the Pontifical French Seminary and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he obtained a degree in Canon Law . On June 27, 1992 he was ordained a priest for the diocese of Nanterre .

After various tasks in pastoral care, he was episcopal vicar for the southern part of the diocese of Nanterre from 2003 to 2006 . He was then Chancellor of the diocesan curia and at the same time instructor at the interdiocesan seminary of Saint Sulpice in Issy-les-Moulineaux , of which he became regens in 2007.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Saint-Dié on June 15, 2016 . The Archbishop of Besançon , Jean-Luc Bouilleret , donated him episcopal consecration on September 4th, 2016. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Nanterre, Michel Aupetit , and his predecessor Jean-Paul Mathieu .
