action
At the beginning of the story, the donkey leaves an old miller who wanted to deport him. The donkey flees in time and decides to go to Bremen to become a town musician. On his wandering he meets a dog that is being kept on a chain by a farmer. Since the dog is no longer the fastest and strongest, the farmer wants to kill him. But the donkey can free him and persuade him to go to Bremen . Both discover an old boat on a river and continue their journey on the water. A little later they meet a cat that is no longer suitable for mice hunting and has been rejected by humans. She too joins them, as does a rooster that they can save together from certain death. He should be slaughtered. They now want to move to Bremen together and become musicians. Your path leads through a dense forest that is haunted by robbers. The highwaymen have not been able to make a catch for a long time because travelers avoid their forest. The robber captain gives instructions to turn the signpost so that someone can finally get lost in the forest and fall into their trap. The four animals reach the signpost and follow the wrong track. You get deeper and deeper into the forest and by chance stumble upon the robbers' hut. Hungry and frozen as they are, they make a plan. They manage to drive away the robbers ; An attempt to recapture the former owner also fails. Believing that ghosts have seized the hut, the robbers flee the forest . The four animals decide not to go to Bremen, but to stay in the forest hut forever.
