The CubaBoarian is a German music group from Vagen in Upper Bavaria around the band leader Hubert Meixner, which combines Bavarian folk music with South American sounds. The music belongs to the genre of new folk music .

Band history

In 2000, Hubert and Andreas Meixner and Michael Mayer, members of the Vagener Dorfmusikanten in Mangfalltal , came into contact with local musicians from the hotel's house band, where the three of them spent their vacation, for the first time while on vacation in Cuba . During their first attempts at music together, the musicians find that traditional Bavarian folk music can be combined very well with South American sounds and rhythms such as cha cha cha , samba and salsa .

Since then, the popularity of the CubaBoar in the Alpine region has increased steadily. The band became known in German-speaking countries through numerous television appearances such as Musikantenstadel , Immer wieder sonntags , Ottis Schlachthof , and several other appearances on Bavarian radio . The CubaBoarians regularly travel to Cuba with numerous fans to play with local musicians.
