High school students Carol and Neil are getting top grades at their school and will go to prestigious colleges this fall. They are not even noticed by their classmates, and the teachers can hardly remember their names either. So both forge the plan to make it big as supposed exchange students from France and Italy.
Carol and Neil learn foreign languages, change clothes and soon have their big show. Neil can finally impress his adored Dorrie, Carol not only gets the long-awaited role in the school musical, but also gets Rod's attention. Entanglements arise when Rod's ex-girlfriend, Kathy, and Carol's little sister find out.
