Who Don't Fear Death is a British - American crime film directed by Michael Anderson from 1959 and starring Gary Cooper and Charlton Heston .
action
John Sands is out on the English Channel with his rescue cutter during a storm and almost collides with an incapable of maneuvering ship. He boards the apparently abandoned ship and meets Gideon Patch, the first officer of the Hong Kong- registered freighter "Mary Deare".
Patch claims the captain and seven sailors were killed. The rest of the crew fled with lifeboats after an explosion and several fires. However, Patch does not make an emergency call, but steers the ship into the cliffs so that it initially remains undetected. He believes that there is sabotage and insurance fraud involved , and he needs the ship as evidence at the mandatory trial before the Tribunal . Sands initially supports Patch in its project.
As the trial progresses, Sands has more and more doubts about Patch, as the former captain has already lost a ship, with a second ship also sunk, allegedly through negligence. Patch provides insufficient information in front of the court and cannot convict Higgins, the second officer he has accused of sabotage, as the ringleader of the sabotage. Patch suggests that the valuable cargo consisting of aircraft engines was exchanged en route in the port of Rangoon .
When the ship is found, Patch fears that Higgins wants to sink it so that evidence of crime can be destroyed. Sands can be persuaded to go diving together. Both found that the freight crates contained stones and not the aircraft engines declared on the accompanying documents. So they see proof of insurance fraud.
But Higgins and his cronies discovered that Patch and Sands drove to the ship, which was stuck in the cliffs, wearing wet suits. They also sneak on board, which the two divers notice. Higgins wants to kill the two when surfacing, but they pretend a different position underwater than they actually occupy. They pull Higgins into the water and he drowns in the fight.
