criticism
Orca, The Killer Whale , received mostly bad reviews. On the one hand because of the wrong representation of the behavior of the orcas, on the other hand because of the bad special effects. The film also made use of previous film formats such as Jaws and Moby Dick . Although the film had only moderate success at its 1977 cinema premiere, it has nonetheless achieved cult status among animal horror movie fans. The lexicon of international film assesses the film as a "technically well-made, imaginative thriller, which [...] depicts the 'beast' in a differentiated manner and does not demonize the creature."
