The yellow caravan , the original French title “La cloche tibétaine” ( The Tibetan Bell ), is a Franco-German television multipart from 1975. It is based on a historical event, the Croisière Jaune , the “Yellow Expedition” that took place between 1931 and took place in 1932. The German first broadcast started on November 3, 1975 on ZDF . In France, the miniseries appeared on TF1 on November 11, 1974 .

André Citroën , founder of the automobile company Citroën , had the idea of having an expedition equipped with half-track vehicles manufactured by his company drive 12,000 km in the footsteps of Marco Polo over the so-called Silk Road to Beijing .
Two groups of vehicles set off: one, led by Georges-Marie Haardt and called “Pamir”, is supposed to cross the Himalayas from Beirut , the other, led by Victor Point and called “China”, sets off from Tien Tsin to join him of the first group in Kashgar and then head for the goal together.
