Diego Mariño (born May 9, 1990 in Vigo ) is a Spanish football goalkeeper who is currently under contract with the Spanish second division club Sporting Gijón .

Career

societies

For Villarreal came Mariño, who had previously played for lesser-known clubs, at the age of 14 years. First he made it to the second team, in which he made 38 games in league two in the 2010/11 season. He also sat on the bench of the professional team twice this year. For his first use for this he came on October 21, 2012 in a 0-2 defeat against Recreativo Huelva . Since Villarreal had been relegated from the Spanish first division in the previous season , it was again just a second division game for him. During the following eight games of the season he was the team's new goalkeeper, replacing Juan Carlos , who from January 2013 under the new coach Marcelino García Toral was given preference over Mariño. For the 2013/14 season he moved to Real Valladolid , where he was the new goalkeeper. After just one season, he joined the league competitor UD Levante, where he followed Keylor Navas , who had switched to Real Madrid .

National team

Mariño was already in the squad of a youth national team in 2007, at the age of 17 in the Spanish U-17. Although he was not used there, he still played for a Spanish national team. On May 23, 2009 he ran for the first time for the U-19, who won 3-0 against the U-19 from Estonia. On February 8, 2011 he also made his debut for the U-21s, with which he was able to win 2-1 against Denmark. He was part of the squad until the 2013 European Championship . In November 2012, he played his last of seven selection games. In summer 2012 he was also part of the team that represented Spain at the Olympics in London.
