Diego José Palacios Espinoza (* 12. July 1999 in Guayaquil ), also known as Chiqui Palacios , is an Ecuadorian footballer who since August 2019 in the MLS - Franchise Los Angeles FC has a contract. The left full-back has been the Ecuadorian international since October 2018 .

Career

Diego Palacios, who was born in Guayaquil , moved to the youth department of SD Aucas in February 2016 after playing in the youth teams of CS Norte América and CD Azogues . In the 2018 game year he was an undisputed regular player at the Quito club and played 23 league games in which he scored a goal before he moved. He made this goal on July 10, 2018 (21st matchday of Primera Etapa) in a 3-1 home win against Independiente del Valle .

On July 23, 2018, Chiqui Palacios switched to Dutch honorary division Willem II Tilburg on loan for the entire 2018/19 season . He made his debut on August 11, 2018 (1st matchday) in a 0-1 home defeat against VVV-Venlo . On September 30th (7th matchday) he flew in the 1: 2 away defeat against BV De Graafschap after a little more than an hour played with " yellow-red " and was then suspended for a game. Despite this setback, he was a regular this season and completed 27 league games before returning to SD Aucas.

On August 7, 2019 left switched -back to MLS - Franchise Los Angeles FC . The parties have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. It wasn't until October 6, 2019, the penultimate matchday of the 2019 game year , in the 1-1 draw against Minnesota United that Palacios made his debut for his new employer. After he completed a short assignment on the last day of the game, he was not included in the play-offs.

National team

In October 2016, Diego Palacios played for the Ecuadorian U20 national team for the first time . With this selection he took part in the U20 South American Championship 2019 in Chile , where he was used in eight games, won this competition with La Tri and was elected to the team of the tournament. He was also at the U20 World Cup in Poland in the same year, played all seven games and reached third place with the team.

On October 12, 2018, he made his debut for the Ecuadorian national team in a 3-4 friendly defeat against Qatar .
