Dieter H. Kellein

Dieter Hans Kellein CVO (born June 14, 1940 in Munich ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D. He was u. a. Commodore of Air Transport Wing 61 in Penzing.

Life

Promotions

Kellein joined the German Air Force in 1961 . He was trained at the Technical School of the Air Force 2 in Lechfeld. Then he was a radar flight detector with the telecommunications regiment 31. This was followed by training as a radar flight reporting officer in Regensburg.

In 1963 he graduated from the basic course reserve officer candidate at the officer Air Force School (OSLw) in Neubiberg. In 1963/64 he was an air situation officer and training officer in Uedem and staff platoon leader in the 33 telecommunications regiment in Goch. In 1964/65 he took part in the pilot training course at the flight candidate regiment in Uedem. From 1965 to 1967 he was trained as a pilot at the Lufthansa flight school in Bremen; the type training took place on Noratlas ND2501 in Wunstorf. From 1967 to 1969 he was a transport pilot with Lufttransportgeschwader 61 in Neubiberg. In 1969 he became lecture director at the Luftwaffe officers' school.

From 1971 to 1973 he took part in the 16th general staff course (L) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. Then he became A1 at the air transport command (LTKdo) in Münster. From 1976 to 1979 he was Deputy Defense Attaché at the German Embassy in Washington, DC. 1979/80 he was Adjutant to the Federal Minister of Defense Hans Apel (SPD). In 1980 he retrained on Transall at Lufttransportgeschwader 62 in Wunstorf. In 1980/81 he attended the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome. In 1981/82 he was a lecturer in military strategy at the command academy of the Bundeswehr. From 1982 to 1985 he was head of division in the command staff of the armed forces (Fü S III 5) in Bonn. From 1985 to 1987 he was commodore of Air Transport Command 61 in Penzing. In 1987 he became head of division in the Air Force Command (Fü LI 1) in Bonn.

From 1991 to 1995 he was Head of Internal Management in the Air Force Command Staff. Most recently he was the commander of the air force training associations and deputy head of the Air Force Office (LwA) in Cologne.

After his service, he became managing director of Thales Germany .

He is married and has one child.
