In April 2014, the defender was signed by the Oilers and started the 2014/15 season for the Oklahoma City Barons farm team in the American Hockey League . He spent the 2015/16 season with the new cooperation partner Bakersfield Condors - also in the AHL. He also started the 2016/17 season there , before he was appointed to Edmonton's NHL squad for the first time in November 2016 and made his debut in early December.

After four years in Edmonton, his contract was not renewed after the 2017/18 season, so he joined the Columbus Blue Jackets as a free agent in July 2018 .
