Dirk Hess

Dirk Rüdiger Hess (born on 26. August 1945 in Magdeburg ) is a German writer and comic book writer , best known for his science fiction narratives from the Perry Rhodan - universe and as a writer of Perry Rhodan comic series Perry - Our Man in space .

Life

After graduating from high school, Hess did an apprenticeship as a banker, but was also very interested in science fiction and wrote stories and articles for SF fanzines , through which he came into contact with KH Scheer and in 1967 at the Frankfurt Convention, which Hess helped to organize, William Voltz through which he came to write two novels in the Condos-Vasac sub -cycle for the then newly started Perry Rhodan sub-series Atlan . He did not continue this work at first, however, because he had started studying psychology . In 1971 he began to write the texts for the comic series Perry - Our man in space from number 47 , which he continued until the series was discontinued with volume 129 in 1975. In 1973 Hess had started to write other Atlan novels and also wrote several horror magazines under the pseudonyms Derek Chess and Derek van Cleef for the demon killer and vampire horror novel series of Pabel Verlag . He also ventured into the horror genre as a comic book writer and wrote and translated for the German editions of Vampirella comics and the series of vampire comics, in which translations of the American series Creepy , Eerie and Vampirella published by Warren were published. In addition to these, he translated large parts of Bastei's comic program and for 25 years Mickey Mouse , Roter Blitz (the German version of The Flash ) and the Star Wars comics for Ehapa .
