Dirk Leun (born April 11, 1964 in Lich ) is a German handball trainer and former handball player .

Dirk Leun played handball at TV Hüttenberg until 1996 . The journalist then trained the women's team there, which became Hesse champions under his leadership, and the men's team playing in the 2nd Bundesliga . With the youth teams of TV Hüttenberg, he won the German championship and runner-up in the A and B youth. He worked as a Hessian selection trainer. When TV Lützellinden he worked as a youth coordinator.

Between 1999 and 2004 Leun coached the Bundesliga club TV Mainzlar , with whom he won the DHB Cup in 2001. Then Leun moved to the regional division TGS Walldorf . In the first year the team was promoted to runner-up, as the master TV Lützellinden did not get a Bundesliga license. After a year in the second Bundesliga , the Walldorf women were relegated to the regional league as bottom of the table and Leun left the club.

The father of four later worked as a DHB trainer for the German U20 women. In addition, Leun was employed by the Hessian Handball Association as a teaching officer for state selection teams .

Leun has been coaching Bundesliga club Buxtehuder SV since July 1, 2008 . Later he also took over the A youth team at Buxtehuder SV, which won the German championship in 2016 under his leadership. In 2019 the Buxtehude B-youth he trained also won the German championship.

He is married to Claudia.
