Dirk Wiese (* 11. July 1983 in Paderborn ) is a German politician of the SPD . Wiese has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013, and from 2017 until the appointment of Merkel's fourth cabinet in 2018, he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy . From April 11, 2018 to August 26, 2020, he was the coordinator for inter-societal cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the countries of the Eastern Partnership of the federal government. Wiese was elected deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in May 2020.

Life

Wiese grew up in Brilon , where he also passed his Abitur in 2003 at the Petrinum grammar school. He then studied law at the Philipps University in Marburg and at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 2008 he passed his first and in 2010 his second state examination in law. Since then he has been a research assistant for Franz Müntefering, member of the Bundestag . Wiese is a member of numerous clubs and associations. He is married and has one child.

Wiese joined the SPD in 2003. He ran for the first time in 2004 for the City Council of Brilon, of which he was a member from 2009 to 2015. Since 2006 he has been chairman of the local SPD association in Brilon. Wiese was deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district Hochsauerlandkreis since 2008 and succeeded Karsten Rudolph as chairman in 2012. He was deputy spokesman for the SPD South Westphalia before replacing Willi Brase as spokesman in 2017 .

18th legislative term

In the 2013 federal election , Wiese ran for a seat in the Bundestag for the first time in the constituency of Hochsauerland and was elected from the state list. He is a full member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy , the United Nations, International Organizations and Globalization subcommittee, and the Legal and Consumer Protection Committee . He is also a member of the 5th investigation committee, appointed to investigate the VW emissions scandal . He is a deputy member of the Committee on Election Review, Immunity and Rules of Procedure, the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Budget Committee. At the beginning of the legislative period he was a member of the Committee on Food and Agriculture. In addition, Wiese is the deputy spokesman for the Indo-German parliamentary group and spokesman for the South Asia / Southeast Asia discussion group of his parliamentary group.

Wiese has been a member of the committee of inquiry into the VW emissions scandal since it was founded in July 2016 .

19th legislative term

In the 2017 federal election, Wiese was re-elected from the NRW state list. Wiese is currently a full member of the Committee on Food and Agriculture. Wiese has also been elected deputy spokesman for the AG Agriculture of the SPD parliamentary group. In terms of content, Wiese is responsible for forest policy as the spokesperson for forest policy. Wiese is also the coordinator for rural areas. In this role, Wiese takes care of the networking of the cross-cutting issue as well as various related topics ( European Agricultural Fund for rural development , joint task to improve the agricultural structure and coastal protection , federal program for rural development). Wiese is also responsible for the milk market.

Since June 3, 2018, Wiese has been one of the three speakers for the Seeheimer Kreis in the SPD parliamentary group.

Public offices

Wiese was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy on January 27, 2017 as part of the cabinet reshuffle in the run-up to the Federal President's election and the associated resignation of the previous Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier . He succeeds Brigitte Zypries, who has been appointed Minister of Economic Affairs . His term of office ended with the appointment of Merkel's fourth cabinet on March 14, 2018. On April 11, 2018, he was appointed Russia Coordinator. As such, Wiese took part in a meeting of German and Russian parliamentarians organized by the German-Russian Forum in cooperation with the Alexander Gorchakov Foundation for Diplomacy in November 2018 with an impulse lecture “A new start in the strategic modernization partnership? Priorities and opportunities for mutual dialogue ”part.
