The Diestelmühlbach , also Kaisinger Brunnenbach , is a 2.5 kilometer long brook of the Franconian Alb in the area of the town of Greding in the district of Roth in Bavaria .

geography

The Diestelmühlbach is a creek only about 0.8 km long on its name section, which flows together from two upper courses on the edge of the Schwarzach Valley.

Kaisinger Brunnenbach

The longer left upper course of Kaisinger Brunnenbach rises in the nature reserve Kaisinger Tal shortly before the waterworks of the former Kaisinger group. It flows in its Kerbtal, which is wooded on the slopes, in places also on the ground, about 1.8 km in slightly alternating western directions. Less than 400 meters east of the Distelmühle, its valley opens to that of the Schwarzach and it unites with the shorter Mühlbach to the Diestelmühlbach coming from the east-northeast from behind the low spur of Ziegelbuck .

Mühlbach

The source of the right upper reaches of the Mühlbach is located near the edge of the forest at an altitude of 431  m above sea level. NHN about 600 meters east of the outskirts of Greding and about 150 meters north of the climbing section of the district road RH 29 Greding – Kaising on the Ziegelbuck in the outlet area of a wooded dry valley. It flows about 0.8 km to the west-south-west, crosses under the county road and finally passes some ponds on the left bank at the plaster of the Ziegelbucks. In addition to the former Gredinger scrap yard, it flows at about 398  m above sea level. NHN together with the Kaisinger Brunnenbach.

course

The combined Diestelmühlbach stretches a further 0.8 km west-southwest, flowing through the Distelmühle , immediately afterwards it is crossed by the state road St 2227 accompanying the river on the left and then flows out at about 383  m above sea level. NHN between Greding and its sewage treatment plant and under the A 9 on the opposite slope from the left into the lower Schwarzach.

If you take the longer left upper course, then the Diestelmühlbach flows after a total of about 2.6 km long path with an average bed gradient of 19 ‰ about 96 meters below the source of the Kaisinger Brunnenbach.

Catchment area

The superficial catchment area of the Diestelmühlbach is about 12.4 km². From a natural spatial point of view, it belongs with the eastern and northern parts to the lower area of the Western Sulzplatte of the northern part of the southern Franconian Jura and with the mouth near the Schwarzach-Thalach valley funnel to the lower area of the Altmühlalb . The highest point on the summit of the Sulzbucks reaches 577  m above sea level. NHN , the southern watershed runs over the mountain.

It borders in turn on the catchment areas of the following neighboring waters:

  • in the northwest, the Agbach coming from Herrnsberg flows southwards to the confluence with the Schwarzach just before the Diestelmühlbach
  • in the northeast the direct competitors flow to the Main-Danube Canal , before Altmühlwasser also flows into it
  • the Altmühl itself below the Schwarzach estuary is the next open watercourse in the south and likewise
  • the Schwarzach in the southwest.

The course of the brook lies entirely, the catchment area predominantly in the area of the city of Greding , each edge piece belongs in the northeast to the place Wiesenhofen of the city of Beilngries , in the southeast to the place Haunstetten of the municipality Kinding, both of which belong to the neighboring district of Eichstätt in Upper Bavaria , as well as a large part of the community-free Haunstetter forest in between in the east.
