The Distelmühle is part of the municipality of Greding in the Central Franconian district of Roth in Bavaria .

location

The Einödmühle is located in the southern Franconian Jura about one and a half kilometers southeast of the old town of Greding and east of the federal motorway 9 on the Distelmühlbach , a left tributary of the Schwarzach . It is surrounded by the corridors Am Mühlbach, Nachtfeld, Ziegelbuch and Distelfeld.

history

At the Distelmühle two huts were excavated in 1910 as traces of Celtic settlement from the Latène period ; the finds came to the Prehistoric State Collection in Munich . The thistle mill was so named because it was probably located in a place rich in thistles .

Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , around 1800, the overturned mill belonged to the Geyern taverns as a manorial ; Bailiwick and high jurisdiction exercised the judicial office Greding of the lower bishopric of Eichstätt .

Due to the secularization of the bishopric, the mill became Grand Ducal Tuscan in 1802 . Only a little later, in 1806, it came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria and there to the tax district of Greding, which was converted into the municipality of the same name by the municipal edict of 1818 with the exception of the two places Hausen and Mettendorf . This belonged to the Beilngries regional court and from May 10, 1812 to the Greding regional court . During the regional reform in Bavaria in 1971/72, the mill remained with the town of Greding, which was assigned to the new Central Franconian district of Roth.

In 1823, when the miller's family consisted of four males and three females, grain was grown and cattle ranched next to the grinding mill. In 1871 the miller's family had two horses and seven head of cattle.
