The Pampas de Hospital district is one of the 6 districts of the Tumbes Province in the Tumbes region in the far northwest of Peru . The district was established on June 18, 1962. In the 2017 census, there were 6,728 inhabitants on an area of ​​727.75 km². In 1993 the population was 5456, in 2007 it was 6313. The administrative center is the small town of Pampas de Hospital with 2648 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pampas de Hospital is located on the right bank of the Río Tumbes 14 km south of the provincial and regional capital Tumbes .

The Pampas de Hospital district is located in the central southeast of Tumbes Province. The Río Tumbes River runs along the southeast and western district boundaries. In the south a wooded ridge rises, which is in the National Reserve Tumbes ( Reserva nacional de Tumbes ).

The Pampas de Hospital District is bordered to the north and northeast of the district of San Juan de la Virgen , on the east by the district Matapalo ( province Zarumilla ), on the south by Ecuador (the cantons Puyango and Zapotillo in the province of Loja ) and in the west to the San Jacinto District .
