The district of Paucará is located in the province of Acobamba in the Huancavelica region in south-western central Peru . The district was established on January 15, 1943. It has an area of ​​225.6 km². At the 2017 census, there were 10,415 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 9270, in 2007 it was 24,317. The district administration is located in the small town of Paucará at an altitude of 3806  m with 4293 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The district of Paucará is located in the northwest of the province Acobamba, 16 km northwest of the provincial capital Acobamba . The district is located in the arid Andean highlands .

The Paucará district borders in the northwest on the Acoria district ( Huancavelica province ), in the northeast on the Andabamba district , in the east on the Rosario district , in the southeast on the Anta district and in the southwest on the Yauli district .
