The Yauli District is located in the province of Huancavelica the Huancavelica region in central Peru . The district founded on June 23, 1962 has an area of 319.92 km². In the 2017 census, 19,237 residents lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 19,409, in 2007 28,127. The population consists predominantly of indigenous peoples whose mother tongue is Quechua . The district administration is located in the town of Yauli at an altitude of 3391 m . The archaeological site of Uchkus Inkañan is located about 4 km north of the city of Yauli.
Geographical location
The Yauli district is located in the central east of the Huancavelica province, about 14 km east of the regional capital Huancavelica . The district is located in the arid Andean highlands . The river Ichu flows through the district, coming from the west it turns north at the city of Yauli.
The district of Yauli borders in the west on the district Huancavelica , in the north on the district Acoria , in the east on the district Paucará ( province Acobamba ), in the southeast on the districts Anta (also province Acobamba) and Anchonga and in the south on the district Ccochaccasa ( the last two in Angaraes province ).
