The district of Ccochaccasa is located in the province of Angaraes in the Huancavelica region in south-western central Peru . The district was established on October 30, 1984. It has an area of ​​107 km². The 2017 census counted 3124 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 4314, in 2007 3434. The district administration is located in the 4150  m high village of Ccochaccasa with 1037 inhabitants (as of 2017). Ccochaccasa is 9 km north-northwest of the provincial capital Lircay .

Geographical location

The district of Ccochaccasa is located in the arid Andean highlands in the north-west of the Angaraes province. The area is drained via the Río Urubamba .

The Ccochaccasa district is bordered to the south by the district Lircay , in the southwest, west and northwest to the districts Huachocolpa , Huancavelica and Yauli (all three in the province of Huancavelica ), and on the east by the district Anchonga .
