The Callanmarca district is located in the Angaraes Province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was established on February 28, 1941. It has an area of ​​24.7 km². The 2017 census counted 642 residents. In 1993 the population was 1012, in 2007 it was 898. The district administration is located in the 3526  m high town of Callanmarca with 515 inhabitants (as of 2017). Callanmarca is located 18 km northeast of the provincial capital Lircay .

Geographical location

The Callanmarca district is located in the arid Andean highlands in the north of the Angaraes province. The Río Urubamba flows around the district in the northwest and in the northeast.

Calla Marca district is bordered to the south by the district Huanca-Huanca , in the southwest of the district Huayllay Grande , in the northwest on the district Anta ( province Acobamba ) and in the northeast on the district Acobamba (also in the province Acobamba).
