The district of Santo Tomás de Pata is located in the province of Angaraes in the Huancavelica region in south-western central Peru . The district was established on May 10, 1955. It has an area of 139 km². The 2017 census counted 1516 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 782, in 2007 it was 1828. The district administration is located in the 3156 m high village of Santo Tomás de Pata with 449 inhabitants (as of 2017). Santo Tomás de Pata is 35 km east- south- east of the provincial capital Lircay .
Geographical location
The Santo Tomás de Pata district is located in the arid Andean highlands in the southeast of the Angaraes province. The district is located on the west bank of the north-flowing Río Cachi .
The district of Santo Tomás de Pata borders in the extreme southwest with the district Lircay , in the northwest with the district Secclla , in the northeast with the district San Antonio de Antaparco , in the east with the districts Santiago de Pischa and San José de Ticllas (both in the province Huamanga ) and in the south to the Vinchos district (also in the Huamanga province).
