The Izcuchaca District is located in the Huancavelica Province in the Huancavelica region in southwest central Peru . The district was established on January 5, 1923. It has an area of 12.3 km². The 2017 census counted 897 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1145, in 2007 it was 979. The district administration is located in the 2939 m high village of Izcuchaca with 580 inhabitants (as of 2017). Izcuchaca is located 32 km north of the provincial and regional capital Huancavelica .
Geographical location
The Izcuchaca district is located in the arid Andean highlands in the north of the Huancavelica province. The district is located on the right bank of the Río Mantaro, which flows southeast, above the confluence of the Río Alauma.
The Izcuchaca district is bordered to the south by the district Conayca , in the west and northwest on the district Cuenca , in the northeast on the district Acostambo ( province Tayacaja ) and to the east by the district Huando .
