The Piscobamba district is located in the Mariscal Luzuriaga Province in the Ancash region of western Peru . The district has an area of 45.8 km². The 2017 census counted 3179 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3543, in 2007 3600. The district administration is located in the provincial capital Piscobamba at an altitude of 3281 m with 1509 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geographical location
The district of Piscobamba is located on the east bank of the southeast flowing Río Pomabamba, left tributary of the Río Yanamayo .
The Piscobamba district borders in the southwest on the Huayllán district ( Pomabamba province ), in the northwest on the Casca district , in the northeast on the Fidel Olivas Escudero district and in the southeast on the Musga district .
