The Casca district is located in the Mariscal Luzuriaga Province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on It has an area of 76 km². The 2017 census counted 4026 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 4248, in 2007 4301. The district administration is located in the 3132 m high village of Casca with 353 inhabitants (as of 2017). Casca is 4.5 km west-northwest of the provincial capital Piscobamba .
Geographical location
The Casca district is located in the northwest of the Mariscal Luzuriaga province on the northeast bank of the southeastern Río Pomabamba, left tributary of the Río Yanamayo .
The Casca district borders in the southwest on the Huayllán district ( Pomabamba province ), in the northwest on the Pomabamba district (also in the Pomabamba province), in the northeast on the Fidel Olivas Escudero district and in the southeast on the Piscobamba district .
