Dittrich was founded before the year 1360 as a Vorwerk of the namesake Dittrich von Schönberg . In 1369 the place is mentioned as "zu deme Ditherichs zcu dem Meer". In 1750, the place name "Dittrich" is handed down in today's spelling. Dittrich belonged to the Schönburg rulers until the second half of the 19th century . It was administered as an official village by the Schönburg rule Glauchau , Amt Hinterglauchau . After an administrative reform was carried out in the area of ​​the Schönburg recession in 1878, Dittrich came to the newly founded Saxon governorate of Glauchau in 1880 .

On July 1, 1950, Dittrich was incorporated into Pfaffroda . When the municipality of Pfaffroda was incorporated into Schönberg , Dittrich was reclassified to Meerane on January 1, 1974. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Dittrich came to the Glauchau district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Glauchau from 1990 and in the district of Chemnitzer Land in 1994 and in the district in 2008 Zwickau rose.
