The forest hoof village Seiferitz was probably created in the 12th century, but is only mentioned in 1361 as "villa siffridis". Derived from the name of the founder, the original name was "Sigfriedsdorf". In 1664, two free, six hand and eight horse farmers were counted in the village.

Like the neighboring village of Waldsachsen (Saxon Ant.), Seiferitz was divided into a Schönburg and an Electoral Saxon or royal Saxon part until the second half of the 19th century . The Schönburg part of Seiferitz belonged to the Schönburg rulership of Glauchau , Hinterglauchau . The Saxon part belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau .

Regarding the manorial lordship, Seiferitz was partly under the Schönburg manor Thurm in the Schönburg manor Lichtenstein and the Saxon manors Gablenz and Ruppertsgrün (temporarily). A part of the place was subordinate as an official village directly to the office of Schönburg Glauchau.

In 1856 the Saxon part of Seiferitz was affiliated to the Crimmitschau court office and in 1875 to the Zwickau administration . After an administrative reform was carried out in the area of the Schönburg recession in 1878, the Saxon and Schönburg parts of Seiferitz came to the newly founded Glauchau administration in 1880 .

From 1856 there was a school in Seiferitz and since 1867 its own cemetery. In 1925, 805 people lived in Seiferitz. On July 1, 1950, Seiferitz was incorporated into the city of Meerane. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Seiferitz came as a district of the city of Meerane in 1952 to the district of Glauchau in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Glauchau from 1990 and in 1994 in the district of Chemnitzer Land or 2008 in the district of Zwickau. On March 1, 2011, Seifeitz was deleted as part of the municipality of Meerane.
