Höckendorf was mentioned in 1405 as "Heukendorff". Regarding the manorial rule, the place belonged partly to the manor Obermosel and as an official village directly to the rule Glauchau , Amt Hinterglauchau until the 19th century . After an administrative reform was carried out in the area of the Schönburg recession in 1878, Höckendorf came to the newly founded Saxon governorate of Glauchau in 1880 .

Höckendorf was incorporated into Glauchau on October 1, 1929. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Höckendorf came as part of the city of Glauchau in 1952 to the district of Glauchau in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Glauchau in 1990 and in the Chemnitzer district in 1994 Land and 2008 in the district of Zwickau. Höckendorf is now part of the Gesau / Höckendorf / Schönbörnchen district of the large district town of Glauchau.
