Count Dmitri Dmitrijewitsch Kuruta ( Russian Дмитрий Дмитриевич Курута , scientific transliteration Dmitrij Dmitrievič Kuruta ; * 1770 in Constantinople ; † March 1st July / March 13th  1833 greg. ) Was a high officer in the Russian army .

Kuruta immigrated from Greece and served in the Russian army from 1787. He took part in the campaigns of the Third Coalition War , Fourth Coalition War and Sixth Coalition War. At the beginning of the Patriotic War of 1812 he was Quartermaster of the 5th Infantry Corps, which was part of the 1st Western Army. He took part in the battle of Borodino and Krasnoye . For his services, he was promoted to major general on December 25, 1812 . In the campaign of 1813 he fought in Germany and was involved in the battles of Bautzen , Dresden , Kulm and the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig . In the campaign of 1814 he fought at La Rothière , Fère-Champenoise and took part in the capture of Paris.

On November 6, 1815, he joined the headquarters of Grand Duke Konstantin Pawlowitsch in Warsaw and was promoted to lieutenant general on September 24, 1816 . In August 1826 he was raised to the rank of count and promoted to general of the infantry on June 25, 1828 . During the Polish uprising of 1830 he was awarded the Order of St. George 3rd Class for his courage and bravery during the Battle of Vilnius and the assault on the Ponari Heights.
