Dodgeville is a city (with the status " City ") and the administrative center of the Iowa County in the southwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Wisconsin . In 2010 , Dodgeville had 4,693 residents, making it the largest city in Iowa County.

Dodgeville is located at 42 ° 57 'north latitude and 90 ° 7' west longitude and extends over 9.3 km² at an altitude of 354 meters above sea level.
In the urban area, the US Highways 18 and 151 meet and form a common freeway towards Madison. Wisconsin Highways 23 and 191 run through the city. The Dane County Regional Airport is situated 75 kilometers east of the city. The city was connected to the rail network of the Chicago and North Western Railway , but the rails were dismantled and the now paved route is part of the Military Ridge State Trail .
Dodgeville is located approximately 80 km west of Madison , the capital of the state. Other nearby larger cities are Dubuque (approx. 75 km southwest), Milwaukee (approx. 200 km east) and Chicago (approx. 260 km southeast).
The Governor Dodge State Park is located near Darlington.

According to the 2010 census , Dodgeville had 4,693 people in 1,965 households. The population density was 565.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, there were 2.35 people each in the 1965 households.
The racial the population was composed of 97.3 percent white, 0.5 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 1.0 percent Asian and 0.2 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races.
