Dolf Maurer (born on September 18, 1961 in Gleisdorf , Austria as Rudolf Ludwig Maurer ) is an Austrian author , advertising film director , presenter , radio founder and speaking coach. He is the founder and director of a speaker school and a training radio.

Life

Dolf Maurer grew up in Gleisdorf in Styria . As a child, his musical talent on the piano was encouraged by attending various music schools and taking private music lessons. After graduating from the Latin-Greek grammar school in Gleisdorf in 1981, Maurer began studying law at the University of Graz . In 1983 he switched to the electrical engineering and economics engineering college in Graz. There he graduated in 1985 with an engineering degree. He then worked as a freelance sound engineer in recording studios , including in the Styrian regional studio of the ORF .

Frustrated by the previous radio monopoly of the ORF in Austria, Maurer decided in 1987, together with radio colleagues like Werner Strohmeier, to circumvent this and took part in setting up the German-language radio station MM2 in neighboring Slovenia , the predecessor of today's Radio SI , where he also moderated. The station in Phorje , which is only 15 km away from the Austrian border, offered listeners in southern Styria an alternative to the ORF program.

In 1989, Maurer's specialist book for sound technology, "The four-track recording studio: homerecording for amateurs and professionals" was published by Franzis Verlag .

In 1990, Maurer began offering radio speaking training for the first time in his “Radio High School”. In the following years, Maurer decided to continue his education in the field of advertising film and completed an apprenticeship as a commercial film director with Josef Hadler in Chemnitz . This was followed by some commercials as a director , including with Klausjürgen Wussow .

At the beginning of the 2000s, Maurer decided to expand his activities as a trainer and in 2003 founded the non-profit association Basic Vocal to promote young radio speakers and to support practical media lessons in schools. As a result, Maurer founded the radio station NJOY Radio in Leibnitz on an experimental basis in 2004, which went on air as an event radio for three months as part of the Styrian State Exhibition .

From 2005, Maurer acted as the official moderation trainer in the public relations department of the Austrian Armed Forces .

In order to be able to offer radio training under real conditions, Maurer opened NJOY Radio in Deutschlandsberg in 2007 as Austria's first training radio . A range of 190,000 people was achieved here, creating a learning atmosphere under real radio conditions.

In 2009 Dolf Maurer founded SL Multimedia GmbH (Studio Lannach), an advertising agency for new media. Here, Maurer and Gottfried Repolusk realized numerous advertising films for renowned Austrian companies. In 2015, two of her films were nominated for the Green Panther . SL Multimedia GmbH also offered courses in moderation, speech technology and radio journalism under the name “Spokesperson Academy”.

Thanks to the collaboration between Maurer and HLW Deutschlandsberg, the student project “A Book of Fairy Tales”, an online fairy tale book, received the SPIN award from the Austrian Language Competence Center in 2009.

In 2011, Maurer opened a new NJOY Radio broadcasting studio in Vienna in cooperation with the Vienna University of Applied Sciences of the WKW . The program is designed by the students of the FH themselves under supervision. NJOY Radio has become Austria's largest training radio thanks to the new range.

In spring 2012, Maurer started the test run of NJOY Radio in the Weiz region , but only received a license for three months.

In order to cope with the now high demand for speaking courses, Maurer founded SL Multimedia GmbH & Co KG , known as "Spokesman Academy", in 2013, which offers speaking and moderation courses in the field of dubbing , audio books and radio in Austria. In 2014, the Sprecher Academy UG was founded in Germany.

Maurer also wanted to continue promoting sound engineering training, so in 2016 he founded Akademie Media GmbH together with Daniel Müller, which offers training in sound engineering, music and video production at 16 locations in German-speaking countries .
