Location of Dolgelin in Brandenburg

Dolgelin is a place in the district of Märkisch-Oderland in Brandenburg and has been part of the municipality of Lindendorf since October 26, 2003 . Together with other municipalities, the official business is carried out by the Amt Seelow-Land . The size of the district boundary is 1439 ha. Dolgelin was the geographic center of the Free State of Prussia .

history

Dolgelin is one of the oldest hill villages on the western edge of the Oderbruch . Excavations since 2000 have uncovered traces of settlement from the Bronze and Iron Ages.

The name suggests a Slavic origin. Dolhi as well as dolgo and len mean long and flax . Archaeological finds on the north-western edge of the village also prove the presence of Slavs . As an anger village , it received a stone church in the 13th century. Dolgelin was first mentioned in documents in 1321. Knights of the Templar Order , who owned a commandery in the neighboring village of Lietzen, had a great influence on the fortunes of the place . Economy and Infrastructure

The Dolgelin district is located directly on Bundesstraße 167 and had its own train station. In 1881 Dolgelin was connected to the Eberswalde – Frankfurt (Oder) railway line . The station has not been served since 1994.

The place was also connected to the Fürstenwalde – Wriezen railway , part of the Oderbruch Railway . The official final trip between Dolgelin and Wriezen took place on September 23, 1966.

education

There is a primary school and the Dolgeliner Zwerge kindergarten in the village .

Sights and culture

  • The church ruin Dolgelin with its medieval plaster scratch drawings is on the Brandenburg list of monuments. Construction work began in 2018 to restore the church, which was bombed in World War II.
  • The former train station, although no longer in use, and the buildings belonging to it have been preserved. The local sheep farm is right next to it . The new playground was built on the former site of the transformer station. The name "Umspannstation Dolgelin" was retained.
  • The artisanal Christmas market in Dolgelin has been enjoying increasing popularity for several years. Well-known greats like Michi Beck from the band Die Fantastischen Vier were here to visit.
  • The Adonisröschen Hike takes place annually in the "Dolgeliner Mountains", during which you can see the Adonisröschen in the nature reserve in long and short tours .
