history
Unterschneedorf was probably founded in the first half of the 17th century by the Goldenkron monastery. The first written mention of the village took place in 1654 in the Berní rula . Together with the other monastery estates, Unterschneedorf also became the property of Prince Schwarzenberg in 1785 as a result of the abolition of the Goldenkron monastery and became part of the allodial rule of Krumlov .
In 1840 the Dominikaldorf Unter-Schneedorf consisted of 31 houses with 223 German-speaking residents. The parish was Oberhaid . Until the middle of the 19th century Unter-Schneedorf remained subject to the allodial rule of Krumlov.
After the abolition of patrimonial , Unterschneedorf / Dolní Šnedorf and Dolní Schneedorf formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Oberschneedorf / Šnedorf in the judicial district of Prachatitz . From 1868 the village belonged to the Prachatitz district . In 1869 the village consisted of 34 houses and had 196 inhabitants. On November 3, 1874, Unterschneedorf was assigned to the newly established judicial district of Wallern . In its session on October 14, 1874 , the Bohemian Landtag had rejected a petition directed against this by the municipal representative Johann Andexinger and some residents for lack of reasons and formal deficiencies, as the petition was not submitted by the municipal board. In 1910 169 people lived in the 34 houses of Unterschneedorf . In 1921 the village consisted of 35 houses and had 201 inhabitants, in 1930 183 people lived in 37 houses. The Czech place name Dolní Sněžná was introduced in 1924. In October 1938, as a result of the Munich Agreement , the village was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Prachatitz district . After the end of the Second World War , Dolní Sněžná came back to Czechoslovakia. The German Bohemian population was expelled until 1946 on the basis of the Beneš decrees ; In October 1946 the last Germans from Dolní Sněžná were resettled with the Social Democratic Guschlbauer family. The repopulation of the village with Czechs did not succeed; In 1950, only two people lived in the 34 houses in Dolní Sněžná. In 1948 it was incorporated into Chlum. Almost all of Dolní Sněžná's houses were demolished in the 1960s. At the 1970 census, Dolní Sněžná had no permanent residents. Today Dolní Sněžná consists of two houses. There are plans to repopulate the place.
