Domantas Čypas (born March 24, 1996 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian ice hockey player who has been under contract with ERV Schweinfurt from the Bayernliga since 2019 .
Player career
Domantas Čypas began his career as a hockey player with Severnaya Zwezda Moscow. In 2012 he left the Russian capital and joined Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod for a year . After spending the 2013/14 season in the U18 of IFK Arboga IK , he began the following season at HK Riga in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga , a Russian-dominated youth league . During the current season, however, he left the Latvian capital and moved to North America, where he ended the season with the Missoula Maulers in the WSHL. Since 2015 he has played for the Wichita Falls Wildcats in the North American Hockey League . In the 2017 GMHL Draft of the Greater Montreal Hockey League, he was selected by the Windsor Aces in the second round as the 53rd player, but never played for this club, instead he moved to Gornjak Rudny in the Kazakh ice hockey championship . At the beginning of 2018 he left Kazakhstan and joined the EC Bad Kissinger Wölfe from the fifth -rate Bavarian ice hockey league . With the Wolves he rose to the Bayern League in summer 2018 .
International
In the junior division, Čypas was on the ice for Lithuania at the U18 World Championships 2012 , 2013 and 2014 and the U20 World Championships 2012 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016 in Division II. He was voted the best defender of the tournament in 2015 and 2016.
He made his debut in the men's national team in 2016 in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang . At the 2017 and 2018 World Championships , he played with the team from the Baltic States in Division I.
