After seven years of training, including with the Hanoverian sculptor Heinrich Ludwig August Hengst , Dopmeyer studied with a scholarship from the Hanoverian king 1851–56 at the Munich Art Academy . Then he worked in Hanover until his death . From 1856 he was a member of the Hanover Art Association .
