Dorothea "Dora" Köring (born July 11, 1880 in Chemnitz , † February 13, 1945 in Dresden ) was a German tennis player .

Career

Köring, a member of the Academic SV Dresden , won the mixed gold medal at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm with Heinrich Schomburgk from Leipzig , making her the second German Olympic champion after Anna Hübler (1908). In the individual she was defeated in the final by the French Marguerite Broquedis in three sets and thus won the silver medal. After her career as a tennis player, Köring worked as a tennis teacher in Dresden. Koering died on February 13, 1945, the day Dresden was bombed .
