The village church Lüderitz is the Protestant church of the village Lüderitz in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt . It belongs to the Stendal parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

architecture

The hall church made of field stones is of Romanesque origin. The tower to the west of the nave was built in the middle or second half of the 12th century. The choir on the east side, dating from the 16th century, has an irregular three-sided end.

Between 1734 and 1736 the building was rebuilt, mainly the windows and the sacristy . Another fundamental renovation was carried out in 1898. These changes, made in the neo-Gothic style, still shape the appearance of the church today. In particular, cross arms were added to the nave to the north and south. An annex on the north side, presumably dating from the 16th century, was built over as a sacristy. The nave windows were designed as pointed arches. The upper part of the ship was built in brick .

The tower is covered by a gable roof on which there is an octagonal roof turret . The sound openings are designed as round arches. On the northern side there is a Romanesque central column in the round arch. The central column on the south side probably dates from the 18th century and is made of sandstone . It shows shell representations as an ornament . At the tower there is a newer west entrance to the church. Inside the tower there was originally a barrel vault , but this was removed and replaced with a wooden ceiling. The church has a bronze bell from the 14th century.

Interior

The interior of the nave, which is covered with a flat wooden beam ceiling, essentially goes back to the renovations in 1898. Both the altar and the galleries and the church stalls date from this period. Also from the year 1898 is the colored glass window made by the Ferdinand Müller company from Quedlinburg , which depicts a teaching Christ .

The pulpit is of an older date. According to an inscription, it was created in 1698 by Adam Bockfleisch from Stendal . It is decorated with carvings depicting plants. The pulpit was also extensively restored in 1898.

The church organ dates back to 1736. It is designed in the baroque style. In addition to other decorations, there is also the family coat of arms of the von Lüderitz family . The family originally resident in the village is also present in other furnishings. Worth mentioning are especially the grave stones for the couple Arnt (deceased in 1480) and Ilse from Luderitz (deceased 1478) and the brothers Lüderitz of 1487. The latter has carved drawing of the two brothers. There is also an elaborately designed wooden epitaph for Ludolff Bertram Philipp von Lüderitz, who died in 1686 . The epitaph with the family coat of arms and ancestral specimen was restored in 1994.
