history

The field stone church was built at the beginning of the 15th century. In the 18th century, numerous renovations were carried out, including enlarging the "baroque" windows. Between 1952 and 1955 the parish renovated and modernized the interior.

Building description

Northern extension to the choir

The building was essentially made of field stone , which, with the exception of a few corner stones, was not hewn and not layered. The choir is straight and has not moved in. The remains of a group of three windows can be seen on the east wall . The middle window is covered with reddish bricks and is likely to be original in its shape. The two accompanying windows were enlarged in a beehive shape during the baroque renovation. In the soffit as well as in the repair work also bricks were used. In the partially plastered gable is a narrow, high rectangular opening in the middle. To the north is a large, rectangular extension that can be entered from the north through an arched gate. Above that is an attic , the gable of which was built from half-timbered houses . There are two small, rectangular windows in it. A clogged gate can be seen on the west side. The extension has a simple gable roof .

The nave has a rectangular floor plan. There are no further window openings on the north side, just a round arched gate in the middle. It should be the original priest gate. The iron fitting is decorated with lilies and dates from the Middle Ages. Above this, the remains of a now no longer existing extension can be seen. On the south side there is one large round arched window in the choir, and further west along the nave wall. A clogged, large gate can be seen between the window groups (extension?). To the west is a small, raised window.

The west tower takes up the full width of the ship. It is rectangular and has no windows on the lower floors. On the south side is a narrow, ogival opening; also two on the west side. Above it follows the bell storey. There are two arched, coupled sound arcades . This is followed by a rectangular tent roof .

Furnishing

The church furnishings are modern from the 1960s. Only the organ dates from 1889 and was created by the Neuzell organ builder Robert Uibe .

In front of the north side of the nave there is an obelisk from the 1930s, which commemorates the fallen from the First World War .
