Dorothea Henzler (born October 31, 1948 in Türkheim ) is a Hessian politician ( FDP ) and was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1995 to 2014 . From 2009 to 2012 she was the Hessian minister of education in the governments of Roland Koch and Volker Bouffier .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1967, Henzler trained as an engineering assistant at Siemens AG from 1967 to 1969 and worked there as a system consultant in data technology sales from 1969 to 1977.

politics

She has been a member of the FDP since 1981 . From 1990 to 1994 chairwoman of the local association in Oberursel and since 1993 member of the party presidium of the state association of Hesse.

Since 1985 she has been city councilor in Oberursel (with an interruption from March 2001 to June 2003) and there from 1993 to 2001 parliamentary group leader of the FDP.

In 1995 she became a member of the Hessian state parliament . There Henzler was chairman of the committee for women, labor and social order from October 28, 1997 to April 4, 1999 as well as a member of the council of elders, cultural policy committee, sub-committee for expellees, resettlers, refugees and reparations. In addition, she was Parliamentary Managing Director from April 5, 1999 to April 4, 2003, and from April 5, 2003, until her departure, she was deputy parliamentary group leader and spokesperson for education policy and school policy of her party.

After the early Hessian state elections in 2009 , Henzler was appointed Minister of Education in February 2009. At the request of her party, she resigned from this office on May 31, 2012. Her successor was Nicola Beer . At the beginning of 2014, she left the state parliament at the end of the legislative period . She had run for election in the Hochtaunus II constituency , but was always elected via the FDP state list.

In 2004, 2009 and 2010 Henzler was a member of the 12th, 13th and 14th Federal Assemblies .

Henzler is a member of the advisory board of the “Haus der Heimat”, the Hessenpark open-air museum and the state board of trustees for further training in Hessen.
