Dorothea von Anhalt-Zerbst (born September 25, 1607 in Zerbst , † September 26, 1634 in Hitzacker ) from the Ascanian dynasty was a princess of Anhalt-Zerbst and by marriage Duchess of Braunschweig and Lüneburg and princess of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

Life

Dorothea was a daughter of Prince Rudolf von Anhalt-Zerbst (1576–1621) from his first marriage to Dorothea Hedwig (1587–1609), daughter of Duke Heinrich Julius of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel .

On October 26, 1623 she became the second wife of Duke August the Younger of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1579–1666) in Zerbst . August's first marriage, like that of his brother Julius Ernst , remained childless. With the birth of her sons, Dorothea became the ancestor of the " New House of Braunschweig ", which went out in 1884 . The Duchess' family register from 1617 is preserved in the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel.
