Dorylas Moreau

Dorylas Moreau (born July 15, 1947 in Kamouraska , Quebec Province , Canada , † October 22, 2019 in Rouyn-Noranda ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Rouyn-Noranda .

Life

Dorylas Moreau received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière on May 20, 1972 . He studied theology at the Major Seminary in Québec, liturgical studies at the Abbey of Saint Andrew in Bruges, pastoral theology in Montréal and later study of the Holy Scriptures in Jerusalem. Among other things, he was Vice Chancellor and Bishop Secretary, later head of liturgy and pastoral as well as Charismatic Renewal in the Diocese of Rouyn-Noranda .

On November 30, 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Rouyn-Noranda. The bishop emeritus of Rouyn-Noranda, Jean-Guy Hamelin , donated him episcopal ordination on March 2, 2002 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Sherbrooke , André Gaumond , and the Bishop of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Clément Fecteau .

In the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) he was a member of the Commission for Liturgy and Sacraments in the French-speaking part of Canada (2003-2004 and 2008-2011) and from 2005 to 2011 chaired the commission. Moreau was also involved in the Assemblée des évêques catholiques du Québec (AECQ).

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on June 25, 2019.
