Doubí (German: Aich ) is a district of the city of Karlovy Vary ( Karlsbad ) in Okres Karlovy Vary , Czech Republic .

Geographical location

The village is located in western Bohemia directly on the Eger , southwest of Karlsbad. The settlement that arose in the immediate vicinity of the medieval castle developed into a street village in the 19th century. To the southeast the Doubská hora (609 m) rises above the Březová dam .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document during the Hussite Wars in 1433, when Aich Castle was taken by force from Elbogen ( Loket ) because of the insubordination of the feudal bearer. The castle, which was destroyed in 1447 and then rebuilt, was the seat of Heinrich Hieserle von Chodau, Caspar Mulz von Waldau, Hans Winkler and Wolf Ernst Winkler von Hainfeldt. The owners of the castle converted into a palace changed very often.

Aich also benefited from its proximity to Karlsbad and its upswing as a health resort. The establishment of a porcelain factory in 1849 and the opening of the railway line built by the Marienbad – Karlsbad railway in 1898 promoted the development of the place.
