The Dr. Schneider Group is a global automotive supplier with headquarters in Neuses (Kronach) in Upper Franconia . The family company specializes in the development and manufacture of products in vehicle interiors - from ventilation nozzles to integrative decorative panels, add-on parts as well as storage systems and center consoles. Customers include automobile manufacturers such as Audi , Alfa Romeo , Bentley , BMW , Daimler AG , Ford , General Motors , Jaguar / Land Rover , Lamborghini , Opel , Maserati , MAN , Porsche , Renault , Ferrari , Seat , Skoda , Smart , Volkswagen , Volvo Cars and Toyota . The company employs more than 4,000 people worldwide at eight locations in five different countries.

Company history

The Franz Schneider company was founded in 1927 by the founder of the same name in Wilhelmsthal near Kronach. The purpose of the company was originally the production of tobacco products. From 1936 onwards, with the establishment of a Bakelite processing facility, plastics production became more important for the company. Injection molded parts have also been manufactured since 1940 . With the takeover of the management in 1955 by Dr. Franz Schneider, the son of Franz Schneider, changed the company's strategy. The cigar production was stopped and the emphasis was placed on the processing of plastics . In 1956 the first contact with the automotive industry took place. Ashtrays were manufactured for customers Daimler and Ford for installation in their cars. The company began to expand and in 1959 established today's main factory in Kronach-Neuses.

A new era in the company's history began in the 1990s: since then, the company has been run by the third generation. In the course of globalization , Dr. Schneider to increasingly orientate themselves internationally. In addition to the first overseas plant in Valencia (Spain), which was founded in 1973, further production sites were added in Radomierz (Poland, 2002) as well as in Russell Springs (USA, 2014) and Liaoyang (China, 2011). In addition, with the establishment of two further plants in 1985 in Tschirn and 1991 in Judenbach, the location in Germany was further expanded. In 2017, Dr. Schneider celebrates its 90th company anniversary. With the purchase of the EMS ( Electronic Manufacturing Services ) division of TV manufacturer Loewe , Dr. Schneider expanded its product portfolio in 2020. The Dr. Schneider EMS GmbH, based in Kronach, was founded, adding to its competencies in the field of electronics production and accompanying services (e.g. EMC ). Since then, customers in the automotive and non-automotive sectors have been supplied with electronic assemblies.

In April 2020 the long-time senior partner Dr. Franz Schneider at the age of 91. His life's work will be continued as a family business and with constant memory of him.
