Dragan Džajić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Драган Џајић ; born May 30, 1946 in Ub , Serbia ) is a former Yugoslav football player who was mainly active as a left winger . Most recently, he was Vice President of the Serbian Football Association .

Career

National team

Dragan Džajić had the high point of his international playing career in the semifinals against reigning world champions England at the European Championship in 1968 . Shortly before the end of the game, he scored the 1-0 winner, which moved the Yugoslav national team into the final against Italy.

1974 reached Džajić with the Yugoslav national team at the World Cup the second final round of the tournament, in which he lost the first game against Germany with 0-2.

At the 1976 European Championship in Yugoslavia, his team should repeat this success in front of their own audience. In the semifinals against Germany in Belgrade , she led 2-0 after 32 minutes, Džajić scored the second goal. The game was lost 4-2, the game for third place against the Netherlands ended 3-2.

Then he went to France for two years at SC Bastia , returned to the Yugoslav capital and ended his career in 1979, after one last season for Red Star . He is considered one of the best Yugoslav soccer players of his era, which is why he was in five world and European national teams.

Later career

As technical director and later president of Red Star Belgrade , Džajić led the club to numerous titles, including the 1991 European Cup.
