The Dreieckspitze ( 3031  m slm , also Dreieggspitze , Italian Triangolo di Riva ) is a summit in the Rieserferner group and lies on the Austrian-Italian border between East and South Tyrol . This borderline coincides here with the border between the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park and the Hohe Tauern National Park . The Dreieckspitze is the northernmost three-thousand-meter peak of the Rieserferner Group, it is less than two kilometers south of the Klammljoch . The Fleischbachkees is located southeast of the summit . The border ridge runs from the triangle point in a south-easterly direction, neighboring peaks in this ridge that delimits the Fleischbachkees are Kleiner and Großer Rotstein (3048 m and 3147 m respectively).

Increase opportunities

The summit is usually climbed from the South Tyrolean side, as these climbs are shorter than those from the East Tyrolean side. The starting point is Rein in Taufers . The usual ascent here leads over the lower and upper Kofler Alm, the Kofler Lakes, the Bärenluegscharte and the southeast ridge. The ascent to the Bärenluegscharte can alternatively be reached via the lowest Knuttental and the Sossenalm. A further increase in variation leads to the rear Knuttental to Knuttenalm, via the Klammlsee into Kar below the Bärenluegscharte where the ascent route coincides with the on Kofler lakes. Most of these ascent variants are marked and not difficult . The ascent over the Kofler Lakes takes around 4¼ hours.

The relatively infrequent ascent from East Tyrol begins at the Oberhausalm (1786 m) and leads over the Jagdhaus-Alm and the northwestern edge of the Fleischbachkees to a scree flank that leads to the east ridge. You can easily reach the summit via the eastern ridge. A total of 5 hours should be planned for this ascent variant.

The ascent of the Dreieckspitze is also suitable as a ski tour .
