The Trinity Monastery ( Serbian : Манастир Св. Тројице, Manastir Sv. Trojice) is a Serbian Orthodox male monastery near the hamlet of Bijele Vode , the village of Podnemić in the Opština Ljubovija in western Serbia .

The monastery complex is one of three Serbian Orthodox monastery complexes in the municipality. The Trinity Monastery was founded in 2005.

The monastery is located at the foot of Mount Nemić , near the hamlet of Bijele Vode , which belongs to the village of Podnemić. The monastery stands at an altitude of 400 m above the Drina river .

The monastery can be reached by taking the old, in poor condition, road that leads from the township of Ljubovija to Užice . After a few kilometers there is a sign. At this sign you have to turn left, and after driving three kilometers on a gravel road you will reach the Trinity Monastery.

In the summer of 2006 a shorter and better road to the monastery was opened. However, there is no sign on this street.

history

There are three Serbian Orthodox monasteries in the municipality of Ljubovija, the monastery of St. Nikolaj Srpski, which is dedicated to St. Nicholas of Ohrid and Žiča , near the Soko grad fortress , the Trinity monastery near the village of Čitluk and this monastery. The Trinity Monastery of Bijele Vode near Podnemić is the youngest of the three, it was only founded in the 2000s .

The ktitor (founder) of the monastery is the businessman Karađorđe Ristanović with his wife and six children from the small town of Irig in Vojvodina . However, he was born in Podnemić. He wanted to build a church in his home village on the family estate in the immediate vicinity of the graves of his parents Kosta and Božana and his little sister Vida .

With the blessing of the Bishop of the Eparchy Šabac Lavrentije (Trifunović), Mr. Ristanović built the Holy Trinity Church in 2003, from whose patronage of the Holy Trinity the monastery got its name. For his selfless and impressive work, Mr. Ristanović was awarded the Order of St. Sava by the Serbian Orthodox Church .

Ktitor the church crosses is Milenko Radaljac from Loznica and Milan Selaković from Novi Sad founded the church bell.

In 2005, with the arrival of the priest monk Serafim (Petković) as head of the monastery, the monastery was animated. The number of monks and novices increased and regular services began. The Serbian Orthodox Church solemnly took possession of the monastery in November 2005.

The monastery now consists of the church, a konak for the monks and a second konak is currently being built. The monastery also has a monastery shop and a memorial fountain in the churchyard. The monastery finances its further expansion by selling products made in the monastery itself.

The monastery is the first to celebrate Slava , the second day of the Holy Trinity , as the Trinity Monastery near Čitluk celebrates the first day. The Venerable Mother Petka Paraskeva is considered the second Slava of the monastery.

As a relic , the Holy Trinity Monastery has a part of the ceiling with which the relics of St. Venerable Mother Petka Paraskeva are covered. This relic is a personal gift from Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church .

The monastery church is built in the Serbian-Byzantine style .

The exceptionally beautiful iconostasis was made by Mr. Ljuban Marić from the village of Bogatić , which is located near Lelić in Opština Valjevo . The icons on the iconostasis and the frescoes in the altar area are the work of the academic painter Vidoje Tucaković from Novi Sad.
